The TNT KaTropa moved a win away from the finals after outplaying the Barangay Ginebra Kings, 88-71, in Game 2 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Powered by Terrence Jones’ fourth triple-double performance of the conference, TNT took a 2-0 edge in the best-of-five series. Jones put up 15 points, 18 rebounds, 10 assists, and four blocks.
The KaTropa’s defense held the Kings to their lowest output in two years. The top seed also waxed hot from the 3-point area as they unleashed 16 triples on the way to the victory.
Jayson Castro finished with 20 points on 4-for-7 shooting from deep, while RR Pogoy contributed 18 points all from long range. Troy Rosario added 16 points on an efficient 8-for-11 shooting from the field.
Pogoy shot the lights out with four triples in the first quarter alone to get TNT’s offensive rhythm going. Jones, Castro, and Rosario followed suit and conspired to build a nine-point cushion entering the break.
