The playoffs of the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup is still a good two weeks away but for Brgy. Ginebra, it was already begun.
For Gin Kings chief playmaker LA Tenorio, the win over TNT last Friday signaled the start of the next phase of the tournament for the former back-to-back Governors’ Cup titlists.
“These are our playoff games already. These last three game are our playoff games already,” said Tenorio after the 96-93 victory over the KaTropa.
The emphatic win over the erstwhile conference leader clinched an outright entry into the quarterfinal round for the crowd darlings with the twice-to-beat advantage incentive still within reach.
“Big win for us, hindi ko itatago na sobrang laking panalo para sa amin. This kind of game will help us going to the playoffs. Yung ganitong mga grind-out game, we don’t need blowout game kasi parang wala kaming matututunan. Yung ganitong klase ng game ang kailangan namin sa playoffs,” explained the 35-year old native of Nasugbu, Batangas.
Brgy. Ginebra has Columbian Dyip (November 15) and NorthPort Batang Pier (November) for its last 2 assignments in the elimination round and Tenorio said that team will treat these matches with playoff mentality.
“These last two games playoff mode na sa amin. It doesn’t matter kung sino man ang kalaban namin,” said the 3-time PBA Finals MVP.
