Kevin Ferrer most likely out of semis series due to freak accident

With NorthPort already hurting from the absence of Jonathan Grey, Bradwyn Guinto, super rookie Robert Bolick and veteran guard Sol Mercado who sustained an ankle injury during Game 2 of the team’s semifinal series against Brgy. Ginebra, the Mikee Romero-owned franchise suffered another casualty in the person of shooter Kevin Ferrer.

The 26-year old Ferrer, who joined the team last conference along with Mercado and Jervy Cruz in a 3-for-1 trade deal for 2018 PBA scoring champion Stanley Pringle, apparently had a freak accident last week which prevented the once UST Growling Tiger from playing in the series against his former team.

The 3rd year PBA player didn’t play in Game 1, was scoreless in 4 minutes in Game 2 and showed up in civvies in Game 3.

“Aksidenteng nabagsakan ng isang mabigat na bagay. Yung big toe ko yung mismong nabagsakan,” said Ferrer during an interview with Tiebreaker Times.

“Tinry kong maglaro ng Game Two hindi ako nakatulong. Tapos lalong sumakit yung big toe ko,” he added.

With the Batang Pier down 1-2 in the series and the Gin Kings poised to make it three-in-a-row, the possibility of the 2-time PBA champion suiting up is already remote.

“Baka hindi na,” was Ferrer’s curt reply when asked if he’s playing in Game 4.
