Brgy. Ginebra won’t have much time to sulk after bowing to archrival Magnolia last Sunday in the bubble edition of Manila Clasico.
The Gin Kings, who saw their 4-game winning streak come to an end, will try to get back on track when they clash with Rain or Shine on Tuesday, 6:45pm at the Angeles University Foundation Sports Arena and Cultural Center.
The Elasto Painters, currently running third with a 3-1 win-loss card, are also coming off a streak-snapping defeat at the hands of the Alaska Aces. The team was scheduled to take on Blackwater last Monday but league officials decided to postpone the match after an Elite player tested positive for COVID-19.
Succeeding antigen and swab tests, however, on the said player turned out negative.
With the game against the Gin Kings set to push through, Rain or Shine veteran Beau Belga shared his thoughts on facing the country’s most popular squad without the team’s 6th man inside the venue.
“Actually, malungkot ako eh. Malungkot ako dahil wala nang fans yung Ginebra,” said Belga during ESPN’s Sports Page program.
Teammate Ryan Arana, who was also present during the show, then quipped, “Wala na raw siyang babarilin ng shotgun”.
The 33-year old bruiser has a habit of pretending to shoot opposing fans with a shotgun every time he cans a jumper or a triple which, more often than not, triggers Brgy. Ginebra supporters.
“Ang iniisip ko nga kapag kalaban namin Ginebra, baka mag-sit out na lang ako,” added Belga in jest.
