Alaska pounced on a Barangay Ginebra team that came out flat from a long break, pulling off a 104-78 rout to move up to fifth place in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Ynares Sports Center here Sunday night.
Themselves playing poorly in their return from a long breather Friday against Phoenix Pulse, the Aces were back in the groove as they blew past the Gin Kings, notching a third win against two losses.
The Gin Kings dropped to sixth spot at 3-3 with the 26-point blowout loss coming after back-to-back wins over Columbian Dyip and Blackwater that they beat by an average margin of 15.
Alaska coach Alex Compton was shocked with the result of the game.
“I didn’t expect that,” said Compton.
“We were manhandled by Phoenix the last time. The final score was not indicative how Phoenix manhandled us. Honestly, I expected we would play hard, but I didn’t expect that score,” Compton pointed out.
